Ever dreamt of sending it down the Snowboard Cross course? We’re opening the Sun Run track up for a public Snowboard Cross event for the first time in 4 years this Friday, 21 August.

The race will be held in place of the Hotham Banked Slalom, where we’ve changed the format of the competition due to poor snow conditions on Gun Barrel.

So, grab your board, grab your mates and experience the track that Olympians battle it out on. After the action, head into afterparty celebrations at the Bird.

Hotham’s Gun Barrel has had a gravitational pull on snowboarders since the late 80’s with its incredible natural inbound terrain.

The Hotham Boardriders club was formed in 1988 as a community voice for snowboarders on the mountain and the annual Gun Barrel Banked Slalom was born.

The first event ran in the early 90’s as a collaborative effort between Mt Hotham Skiing Company and Hotham Boardriders with the support of the Australian snowboard industry. As a result, the event has become an annual pilgrimage for the snowboarding community to unite and compete in its purest form on epic natural terrain. Professionals to weekend warriors come together in this fun event to test their skills.

The 2025 Hotham Banked Slalom

We saw blue skies and awesome carving conditions for 2025, with competitors tearing up the terrain. A Slalom Course on the Summit set the scene for good times and a celebration of snowboarding culture in true Hotham Boardriders form.
