Great turns and early start on Village Chair!

The wind has picked up and there is some high cloud moving in from the north, but I reckon it'll be a mostly fine day with plenty of good turns to be had.  The current temperature is minus 1.3, heading for a top of 4 degrees, and the wind is a moderate to strong northerly.

The snowmakers had a run for a few hours overnight, so I expect the groomers will be in good shape again this morning, and there will still be good dry packed snow to be found in many off-piste zones too.

Village Chair is scheduled for 7:30am First Tracks today. Keep an eye on the Lift Status page and the Hotham App, as the wind may impact some upper and outer lifts if it increases much more.

Rug up for the windchill this morning and have another beaut day out there!

Cheers Bill

Backcountry Conditions

2 August 2026 The conditions in the backcountry are variable, but you may find some good turns out there. Some aspects are still holding dry snow, while others have moved into a melt freeze cycle and will be slick to start the day. The cover is good up high but becomes much more marginal at lower elevations. Beware of a sliding hazard. Take Care.

regroomed this am Village to Skiers xing, Rowards Run, Race link and Wonderland. Yesterdays grooming of Brabralung to Whiskey Flat. All Christmas Hill except Big Spur still in good nick.
